Sustainability at Macs

Building Great Futures

Our Vision

We’re driven by our Vision of ‘Building Great Futures’ and we know keeping our planet healthy, working in our communities to increase greater employment opportunities and supporting in driving greater equity in skills development & recruitment is essential. That’s why we have focussed our Sustainability Strategy around 3 key commitments: Environment, Social and Charity.

Our Commitments

Environment

Our environmental commitments involve taking actions to reduce carbon emissions, conserve resources, protect natural habitats and promote sustainability.

As part of this commitment we have developed a Carbon Reduction Plan which explains our carbon reduction goals. Have a look at our Carbon Reduction Plan.

We have also partnered with Ecologi to invest in climate solutions and projects around the world. All projects are verified and we keep track of the difference we’re making, whether it’s solar power generation in Indonesia or planting new trees around the world.

For more information about the projects we are supporting and our impact have a look at our Ecologi profile.

The changes we make as a business are driven by our Environment and Sustainability Committee, which is made up of a cross-section of employees in our business.

Social

Our social commitments involve promoting social responsibility, fairness, inclusivity and equity.

As part of this commitment we have worked with local enterprise partnerships including D2N2 (Enterprise Partnership for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire) and LLEP (Enterprise Partnership for Leicester and Leicestershire) to help support skills development in schools and prepare young people for their next steps.

Our Directors have partnered with local colleges to support the new T Levels and organise internships which support a greater understanding of the work environment and key digital and sales skills.

Our Women in Leadership event series is underway and is the start of us expanding our equity focus to our customers with key speakers such as Amanda Daly.

We have also partnered with local higher education establishments to support in bringing industry experience and practical skills to degree level courses.

Charity

Our charity commitments look to support causes that are near and dear to our hearts and make a big difference to people in our local communities.

Each year we nominate a charity or charities of the year and support them throughout the year by organising and attending events and raising as much money as we can.

We encourage and empower our people to support any charities or community events that they are close to. From day one of employment, everyone is entitled to 4 paid days every year to get out there and make a difference.
